On 1st of September 2016, CEO and founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg paid a surprise visit to Kenya after his other visit to Nigeria. He had come to meet with entrepreneurs and developers and to learn more about mobile money.
During this visit, he dined at the Mama Oliech's restaurant in Hurlingham with the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Information and technology, Joseph Mucheru. "We ate at MAMA Oliech Restaurant. -- a local place everyone recommended. One of my favorite parts of traveling to a new country is trying the food. I enjoyed Ugali and a whole fried tilapia for the first time and loved them both!" he said.
Jiranis food intends to connect parties like Mama Oliech and her clients as well as tourists like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg with various places for local cuisines. Through jiranis food, other hosts like Mama Oliech will have an easier way of letting guests book the cuisine they desire by simply posting the available cuisines. On the other hand, tourists (local and international), bachelors, and any person who desires to have a local cuisine will simply check out his or her neighboring host and book whatever cuisine they want to have.
We therefore urge people who are interested in signing up with jiranis food and are ready to share their cooking experiences, recipes and even food cultures to do so. This is also a way of enabling people to earn through their cooking skills and get to socialize with other people.
